Along with MASH, THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW was my favorite TV program ever. I've seen every episode more times than I can count. ANDY AND DON is a fascinating look into the lives of the two iconic stars of that show. Don Knotts was a comic genius ahead of his time, and Andy Griffith played his straight man/5. For years, Ash Robinson, the victim's father, was convinced of Dr. Hill's guilt. Andy Griffith is a great Ash. The story is based on Ann Kurth's book - Ann Kurth was Dr. Hill's second wife, who in the film is played by Katherine Ross. I could never find a copy of Kurth's book, so I read another book on the subject.
Griffith lays it all out in the beginning, holding nothing back. The subject matter is something we all have seen at some point in our churches, but rarely is it talked about or discussed. In His Place is a moving novel that is sure to inspire readers to reevaluate how they view others within their own church (and outside of the church as well)/5(19). Instead, the driving force of the story is the father’s love for his son. While some may say that the story lacks an obvious, triumphant message, it is precisely because of this that this novel is so compelling. Even in the bleakest of times, the true love of a father is all a boy needs. In my opinion, that is a story worth reading.
